01How fuel is arranged
At most airports, fuel is delivered into the aircraft by an into-plane agent working for one or more suppliers. Without an arrangement in place, the crew pays the posted price, by card or cash, if the supplier accepts it at all. A fuel release, sent in advance, tells the supplier who is buying, the agreed price and how much is expected, so the uplift goes ahead without delay at the aircraft.
We request quotes for each airport on your routing, compare suppliers where there is a choice, and send the release once you approve the price. The crew receives the supplier's details and any conditions, such as minimum uplift or opening hours.
02What we provide
For each stop on the routing, we provide:
- Jet A-1 price quotations, per airport
- Fuel releases to the into-plane supplier
- Confirmation of availability, opening hours and any minimum or maximum uplift
- Coordination of the uplift time with the handler
- Fuel planning input for the flight plan, including where tankering is worth considering
- Checks of fuel invoices against the quoted price and the actual uplift
03Fuel planning and tankering
Price is not the only factor. At airports with expensive or uncertain supply, carrying extra fuel from the previous stop can be cheaper or safer, at the cost of higher burn from the extra weight. Our dispatchers take availability, price and performance into account when building the flight plan, and flag airports where supply is limited or needs to be confirmed in advance.
04Frequently asked questions
How do I get a fuel price for an airport?
Send us the airport, date and expected uplift. We return a quote with the supplier, price and any conditions, usually well before the flight.
What is a fuel release?
The authorisation sent to the fuel supplier before the flight, confirming the buyer, the agreed price and the expected uplift, so the into-plane agent can fuel the aircraft without payment at the aircraft.
Can you arrange fuel at short notice?
Yes, at most airports. Where supply is limited or the supplier needs advance notice, we tell you when the request is made.
Airport services, opening hours and local requirements change. This page is a general guide: our OCC confirms the arrangements for every request before you fly.
Planning your next trip?
Send us the routing, aircraft and schedule. Our 24/7 OCC confirms what each stop needs and arranges it in one trip file, from permits to hotels.
