02Which flights need a landing permit in Tunisia
Non-scheduled commercial flights, whether charter passenger or cargo, need prior authorisation. Private non-revenue flights may also need a landing permit, and published guidance has long treated permits as required for both private and charter flights into Tunisia. Medevac, ferry and technical-stop flights are handled through the same process, with medevac usually expedited.
Because the requirement depends on the flight's purpose, its passengers and the airport, we confirm it for every request rather than relying on a general rule.
03Lead time and validity
Tunisia does not publish a single lead time we can quote. Routine requests are often processed within two to three working days, but older regional guidance recommended about a week, and charter and cargo requests with full documentation take longer than private flights. Send the request as early as you can, and include everything listed below to avoid a round of questions.
A permit is issued for the scheduled date with a limited tolerance. If the flight moves beyond it, the permit has to be revised before departure.
04Documents for a Tunisia landing permit
Prepare the following with the request:
- Certificates of registration and airworthiness
- Insurance certificate
- Noise certificate
- AOC, for commercial flights
- Crew and passenger details, or cargo details, with a dangerous goods declaration if carried
- Schedule in UTC, full routing with entry and exit points, call sign and purpose of flight
05How we handle Tunisian permits
Send us the aircraft, routing and schedule. Our OCC checks the current Tunisian requirements for your flight type, prepares the request, files it and follows it up until the permit number is issued. We then pass it to the crew and the flight plan, and revise it if the schedule moves. As our team works from Tunisia, we can also arrange handling, fuel and crew services at Tunisian airports alongside the permit.
We arrange the permits for the rest of the routing in the same trip file, with overflight permits for the countries you cross and landing permits at your destination.
